Best Overall – Coconut Oil and Shea Wrap
Specification
- Product Benefits: frizz control
- Hair Type: all; best for curly hair (type 3)
- Material Type free: paraben-free
- Liquid Volume: 7 fl oz.
- Scent: coconut with a hint of shea smell
Description
Get rid of all those frizz and give your hair a great shine and moisturize with a mixture of coconut and shea oil.
Features
Control frizz and fly aways: great at setting hair and getting rid of frizz
Moisturizer: this helps keep your dry hair moisturized
Give your hair a soft bounce: feel your hair get smooth and add a bounce to it
How to use
With a foam wrap lotion, what you want to do is have your hair shampooed and conditioned as normal and then towel dry it. Don’t worry about completely drying it because you definitely want it to be a little wet before you apply your product. You could even spray some water on it and have it slightly wet like that too!
Okay so, with your slightly wet hair, what you want to do is take some of the product on your hand. And if you have very coarse, coiled, and dry hair pump a lot. When I say a lot, I mean A LOT! You want to get it throughout your hair, and coiled will need it. I would say 4 pumps for light-textured hair, and about 8 pumps for coiled hair! And just lather it all over your hair. Don’t be afraid to get it into your hair with your finger, it will be worth it trust me! Then, take a wide-tooth comb and brush it into your hair. Spread it evenly all over your hair.
Then it is time to wrap the hair! This will be how you wrap your hair for all the other products unless mentioned separately. Comb your hair clockwise, and wrap your hair around your head (especially if it is long). Then with a fine-tooth comb, you want to get all those pesky loose ends dealt with. And then you simply continue this until it is fully wrapped.
Then all you have to do is dry your hair with a dryer on medium heat to not damage it. If you don’t have a bonnet dryer, you should really get one. It will help you set your wrap really nicely! Not to mention it will harm your hair less too. If you are going to bed, then take a scarf and wrap your head nicely so your hair doesn’t get ruined on the pillow.
Expert Verdict
Let me tell you this, coconut oil is the best for all hair types, period! Nothing like it, no questions asked. I don’t have really long curly hair, but it comes up to my chin. Lotta Body has done a fantastic job with this product because of what it does. It gives a shine, moisturizes, gets rid of frizz, and molds your hair into perfection. I would say this might not be the best for thick hair because the product won’t set in your hair properly. But otherwise, it has no downsides to it whatsoever! Highly recommend it as the best overall foam wrap lotion on the list.
Pros and Cons
Pros | Cons |
Great for frizz and flyaway control | Might be problematic for coiled and thicker hair |

Best Shine Foaming Lotion – Nairobi Wrapp-It Shine Foaming Lotion
- Product Benefits: gives a great shine
- Hair Type: all
- Material Type free: dairy-free
- Liquid Volume: 8 fl oz.
- Scent: lotion-type smell
Description
If you want volume, non-flaky, and fast-drying, then the Nairobi Wrapp-It Shine is for you!
Features
Heat-resistance: you can be sure of heat drying your hair after using this!
Great for all hair: works well with every hair type
Lasting shine: your hair will gleam until the next time you wash your hair
How to use
As with the other Lotta Body product, you will wrap your hair in the same way. Have your hair slightly dampened or wet and then apply the product. As has a bit more of a thicker consistency, it is much easier to comb through your hair so use both a wide-tooth and fine-tooth comb to wrap your hair. Get your bonnet dryer and dry your hair for a good hour. I would say for this product, touch your hair from time to time to make sure your hair isn’t sticky under the dryer.
Expert Verdict
When I said that this is the best shine, you best believe that it will give you a great shine! It is so good with the shine that it is sure to last at least until your next hair wash. It is also very easy to apply and works great for all types of hair. However, I have noticed my hair is a little sticky after use. It might be because I used a lot of the product when I first used it and then adjusted to a smaller amount the next time I used it. That gave less stickiness, but it definitely weighs your hair down a bit. So be careful about how much you use Nairobi.
Pros and Cons
Pros | Cons |
Long lasting shine | Hair might feel weighed down and sticky |
Works for all types of hair
Easy to apply |
Best Foam Wrap Lotion for Relaxed Hair – Design Essentials Compositions
Specification
- Product Benefits: detangles
- Hair Type: all; best for wavy and especially curly hair
- Material Type free: dairy-free
- Liquid Volume: 7.5 fl oz.
- Scent: coconut smell
Description
With a coconut oil and wheat protein infusion, you are sure to get a smooth wrap and a firm hold without any
Features
Great for relaxed hair: If your hair is chemically treated, then this is the perfect wrap lotion
Curl-enhancing: helps set and hold your curls
Shine and moisturize: gives a good shine and helps moisturize hair
How to use
Unlike the other products, you will only need one pump for this. It might be foam lotion, but once you rub it into your hair, it will have a very oily texture to it. This means that you won’t be needing too much of it at all. Then all you gotta do is apply it using a wide-tooth comb (it’s oily so maybe only use a fine-tooth comb for loose ends and wrapping your hair). Then wrap, dry, and style however you want to.
Expert Verdict
So I don’t have naturally curly hair, but I do have wavy hair. I have relaxed my hair in the past to straighten it up because I did not want to deal with my waves. But let me tell you how well this holds your waves (and curls)! It is amazing how it holds my hair in place and gives it a shine too! And the wrapping process was smooth, no problem with combing it in a wrap at all! The only problem I will say Designer Essential did not see was the fact this product is a bit too oily. So expect to have your weighed down and feeling oily to the touch. But hey, it is so great if you regularly relax your hair and want to go back to your natural curls.
Pros and Cons
Pros | Cons |
Great for relaxed hair and going back to natural curls | The oily texture might make hair feel oily to the touch and weigh down |
Good shine | |
Smooth and easily wrapped hair |
Best Hold & Shine Wrap – ORS Olive Oil
Specification
- Product Benefits: frizz control and hold
- Hair Type: best for curly and coiled hair types
- Material Type free: dairy-free
- Liquid Volume: 7 fl oz.
- Scent: a clean smell of olive oil
Description
The ORS Olive Oil Wrap/Set Hair Mousse is a lightweight mousse designed to hold, moisturize, and give incredible add shine to the hair.
Features
Tames frizz and holds curls: Offers amazing hydration to reduce frizz and helps make your curls shine in place
No crunch: does not add a crunchy texture to your hair
Great moisturizer and shine: Leaves the hair soft, moisture-rich, and with radiant shine
How to use
For mousse-type wrap lotions like this one, it is actually simpler to apply than all the others. For this one, you want to focus a little bit more on the scalp. And then of course you spread it all across your hair using a combination of wide-tooth and fine-tooth combs to get rid of those loose ends. The special case for this is that you don’t even have to dry it in a bonnet dryer, you can just air dry it and let the mousse work its magic! But of course, if you want that hold then I would suggest using a dryer to really help set your hair and then style your curls.
Expert Verdict
ORS Olive Oil Wrap/Set Hair Mousse is so good! Not only are your curls in place after using it, but it shines as bright as a diamond would! The hold is nice and light, but it might feel a bit too stiff for people who have thicker hair as you can feel the stiffness. But otherwise, it’s great for defrizzing your hair and making the curls really well-defined and shiny!
Pros and Cons
Pros | Cons |
Best hold and shine | Might be too stiff for people with thicker hair |
Details the curls well | |
Defrizzes the hair |
Best Foam Wrap Lotion Daily Use – Kera Care Foam
Specification
- Product Benefits: moisturizing and detangles
- Hair Type: best for wavy and curly hair, good to lay down coiled hair
- Material Type free: sulfate-free
- Liquid Volume: 8 fl oz.
- Scent: a light fragrant smell of lotion
Description
The Kera Care Wrap set lotion deeply conditions and moisturizes as hair is dryer set. It leaves hair with a healthy sheen. It is easy to apply, so you can have the stylish look you want, right away.
Features
Deep conditioning: helps condition the hair and make it stronger
Great moisturizer: moisturizes the hair during the drying process
Daily driver: can be used daily to give you an all-day healthy hair
How to use
Much like all the other products in this list, you can use it how you would normally use other wrapping lotions. It lacks the lathering properties of some of the other products though, so you would have to use a lot of it. Apply with a comb and then dry with a dryer, and then style it afterward.
Expert Verdict
The bad news with this is the fact that your curls won’t hold for more than a day at most. The good news is that it’s great for a daily wrapping lotion so you never lose those curls! It is especially good for hair that is dry and damaged which requires a bit of repairing. It also helps regain shine for your dry hair that you might have lost due to damage, leaving behind soft curls for your hair! Using this on a daily basis or an every-other-day product is your best bet to get the most out of this as a daily-use foam wrap lotion.
Pros and Cons
Pros | Cons |
Good for repairing | Hold don’t last for too long |
Can be used daily | |
Gives soft waves and curls |
Best Versatile Foam Styling Lotion – Motions Style and Create Versatile
Specification
- Product Benefits: hydrating
- Hair Type: all
- Material Type free: phthalate-free, sulfate-free, di ethanol amine-free, alcohol-free, paraben free
- Liquid Volume: 8.5 fl oz.
- Scent: a mixture of shea butter and coconut and argan oils
Description
Style & Create Versatile Foam Styling Lotion is the ultimate in styling control for your natural hair. Very versatile, can be used for all types of hair, and leaves a nice setting to any hairstyle.
Features
Natural ingredients: boasts the use of argan and coconut oil with shea butter
Protection from heat: great if you live in a humid climate which causes frizzing
Great hydration: especially if your hair is flat and mostly dry
How to use
Much like the rest of the products, you apply them after washing your hair. Then you take it by hand and lather the foam all over your hair, especially for the ends. Then you wrap the hair and their either bonnet dry or blow dryer, either one works for this one because it makes the hair able to resist the heat. And then style as you may.
Expert Verdict
The great thing about the heat resistance is that now you can style your hair with heat so you can set it however you want! The reason this is in the versatility section is that it will work well with all hair. And I mean ALL types of hair. Even the coarsest, thickest, and coiled hair you can style as you please after your wrap is done, it wouldn’t matter! The natural ingredients used make it so that there are no residues left behind and can be washed off very easily. However, the versatility comes at the price that you can style your hair however you want, but it won’t stay for more than 3 days at max.
Pros and Cons
Pros | Cons |
Great for styling | The hold doesn’t last for a long time |
Good for all types of hair
Natural ingredients so no residue |
Best Foam Wrap Lotion for Natural Hair – Nutress Foam Wrap Styling Lotion
Specification
- Product Benefits: non-flaking, fast drying, extra softness, no-heat styling
- Hair Type: all; best for longer hair
- Material Type free: alcohol-free
- Liquid Volume: 8 fl oz.
- Scent: smell of lotion
Description
Nutress Foam Wrap Styling Lotion is great for natural hair because it has no alcohol and oil to weigh the hair down, not to mention a no-heat styling can be done.
Features
Alcohol-free: does not dry out your hair
Non-flaking and fast drying: causes no flaking on your hair and dries fast
No-heat styling: you can style your hair without subjugating it to heat
Best for natural hair: let our waves and curls with this product
How to use
Very similar to how you will all the other products. For thicker hair, you will need a lot more pumps otherwise you will not reach all of your hair. Then you do the simple wrapping with a comb. For this one, make sure to use a fine-tooth comb to really get it into your hair because it has almost a watery consistency to it. Brush well and then wrap it up nicely. For this, I would advise using an air dryer in a medium setting, a little bit away from the hair. The water-like consistency will dry in about 15 minutes or so. But if you want a firmer hold, then you can use a bonnet dryer instead to really set in the product. Dilute the product in 1-part water and 3-part product for the best effect.
Expert Verdict
If you have natural curls that your straight-iron because taking care of them is a mess, then look no further! This will give your curls a really nice and lightweight hold to it. It won’t feel heavy at all and gives a very non-stiff hold too! And if you are into styling, let me tell you how easily you can style your hair without the need for heat! The hair remains in place when styling, all you need is to brush in to set the hair in nicely. As with good things, there is always a but to the story. I have found that the product works best if you dilute it with water. Otherwise, the scalp dries pretty fast and you might suffer from flaking regardless of what the label on the bottle says. The best course of action then is to dilute the product in 1-part water and 3-part product for the best effect.
Pros and Cons
Pros | Cons |
Great for natural hair; let your curls shine again | Pretty concentrated product so dilute it before using it |
Easy to style hair after using the product without the need for heat
Best Olive Oil Foam Wrap Lotion – Originals by Africa’s Best Olive Oil
Specification
- Product Benefits: The natural conditioners moisturize and help strengthen hair with shine and bounce
- Hair Type: best for straight and wavy hair
- Material Type free: alcohol-free
- Liquid Volume: 6.5 fl oz.
- Scent: olive smell
Description
Originals by Africa’s Best Olive Oil Foam Wrap Lotion gives hair a dose of organic conditioning using olive oil and natural conditioners to keep hair smooth and silky with an alcohol-free formula.
Features
Flexible hold: sets your hair in a natural way
Shine and strength: the olive oil helps give a great shine and help strengthen your hair
How to use
As this is made with olive oil, expect an oily consistency with this one. So again, it is best you only take a little on your hand at a time and then apply it little by little on your hair. Use only as much as you need because it won’t lather up at all. Use a wide-tooth comb to apply it all over your hair. Remember, a little goes a long way. Then wrap your hair and dry your hair with a bonnet dryer. Style after your hair is dried for an hour.
Expert Verdict
The best thing about olive oil is the fact that it will strengthen and make give your hair a lasting shine! This means that your hair will fray less, frizz less, and break less often too! That’s the beauty of olive oil right there. Yet, this wrap lotion is more for people who have thinner hair types like type 1 and type 2. It is too liquid and oily to hold and doesn’t really affect thicker and coarser hairs of type 3b, 3c, and 4. So it sucks that you can’t really get the full benefit of olive oil because this is the best olive oil foam wrap lotion on the market!
Pros and Cons
Pros | Cons |
Strengthens and makes hair shine | Most effective only for type 1 and 2 hair, not much benefit for type 3b and up |
Hair will fray, frizz, and break less often
Best Thermal Protectant – Bronner Brothers Foam Moisturizing Wrapping Lotion
Specification
- Product Benefits:
- Hair Type:
- Material Type free: alcohol-free
- Liquid Volume: 8.5 fl oz.
- Scent: olive
Description
This contains powerful thermal protectors and olive oil for your hair. Detangles, easy combing, adds sheen with no flaking. Great for blow drying, hot curling, wet setting, and wrapping.
Features
Moisturizes: leaves your hair feeling hydrated
Thermal protection: adds thermal protection to your hair that works well with any form of hot hair drying method.
How to use
This is like a thick mousse so what you want to do is take about 4 pumps and cover your entire hair with the product. Applying on slightly damp hair gets the best result. Don’t be scared to really get into the scalps as well. Then comb with a fine-tooth comb and spread it to the ends of your hair (that way you get the thermal protection ingredient on each strand of your hair). Then you can cover your hair with a bonnet dryer for an hour and leave it to dry for an hour.
Expert Verdict
If you regularly use a hairdryer or other heat-based appliances, like curlers and straighteners, on your hair, then this is definitely great for you! The thermal protection you get from this product is better than any other product on this list. Not only that, but it also works great to add moisture to your hair. That’s good if your hair is dry from all the heat it absorbs. So it works as a great daily-use product if you use heat on your hair. Yet, you have to be careful if you are going to buy this as a daily-use product. It can make the hair feel a little sticky that you may not want. It’s easy to get rid of so you don’t have to worry about it too much. Using it about 3 times a week would be ideal for this product.
Pros and Cons
Pros | Cons |
Best for protecting hair from heat | Can leave hair feeling sticky |
Moisturizes hair, great for dry hair due to heat
Best Foam Wrap Lotion for Soft Hair – Sof N’Free N’Pretty Grohealthy Milk & Olive Oil

- Liquid Volume: 7.5 fl oz.

Features
Healthy and manageable: the olive oil and milk protein both nourishes the scalp and makes your hair manageable
Great for thinner and softer hair: gives a good hold for thinner and softer hair
How to use
Because it has a water consistency, it is better to wet your hands with the product and massage it into the scalp. And of course, you want your hair ends to get nourishment as well so take those wide-tooth and fine-tooth combs and spread them to the ends of your hair. It is easy to weigh down with a lot of products so try to avoid using too much. Just enough so that you can comb it through your hair. Then wrap your hair and bonnet dry for the best hold and set result.
Expert Verdict
I have thin hair so this product worked perfectly for me! It might be a bit watery but it also makes it so that you can a little product and then comb through your hair very easily. It also makes your hair tangle-free so combing becomes all the more easier! Not to mention how much better my hair and scalp felt after using this product. But sadly, people with thicker hair would have problems with this because of how watery it is. It will make your hair feel weighed down and have to use a lot of it to get any sort of hold on your hair. This has the chance of leaving a residue which will be problematic.
Pros and Cons
Pros | Cons |
Best for naturally thin and soft hair | Watery consistency so not good for people with thick hair |
Detangles hair to make combing easy
Great hold and nourishment to the scalp and hair |

Expert Verdict
What the Isoplus Wrap Lotion does best is dry really fast. If you are in a hurry and need to get your hair looking good within 20 minutes, then this is just what you are looking for. Apply and wrap for 15 minutes and then blow dry it for 5 minutes and you get all the volumizing goodness very easily. It also gives an all-day hold, leaving your hair soft and bouncy. Not to mention that your hair will love the moisturizing and conditioning it provides. Sadly, it might cause flakes to form on your hair as a result. So use it sparingly!
Pros and Cons

Fast dry and set | Prone to flaking |

Can You Use Foaming Wrap Lotion on Dry Hair?
Could you use foaming wrap lotion on dry hair? It is possible to do it if the label on the bottle says you can! The problem with dry hair is the fact that your hair will be all tangled up and you would have to work really hard to detangle them so you could wrap your hair. The friction from the brush might damage your hair and overall not really beneficial for your hair.
That is why it is important to get the right product for foaming wrap lotion on dry hair. Coconut Oil and Shea Wrap Me Foaming Curl Mousse by Lotta Body and Nairobi Wrapp-It Shine Foaming Lotion are the best to use on dry hair because of how it detangles your hair and gives it a shine as you set it. Design Essentials Compositions Foaming Wrap Lotion for Relaxed & Natural Hair and Sof N’Free N’Pretty Grohealthy Milk & Olive Oil Foam Wrap Lotion are also great for dry hair because it sets really fast, condition your hair, and smoothens the hair to allow the foaming wrap lotion to work its wonder.
While it is not recommended, sometimes you want to use foaming wrap lotion on your hair to help set your hair. It is definitely doable with the right product so just be wary of what you are applying. Most of the products on the list are better applied wet to allow the wrap lotion to set into your hair after drying. Heat on dry hair will make it frizzy and damage it further, which is why it is not advised to use wrap lotion on dry hair.
