Process of making bath bomb

The process for making any bath bomb is pretty much the same. Sodium bicarbonate, Citric acid, and Corn starch are the key ingredients of a bath bomb. For your convenience, I am giving you two detailed recipes for your better understanding.

Recipe no.01: Easy and simple way

Ingredients:

  1. Baking Soda (Food grade):100 grams
  2. Citric acid:50 grams
  3. Epsom salts: 30 grams.
  4. Essential oil:10 ml
  5. Coconut oil:15 ml
  6. Few drops of food coloring

Process :

  • Step 1: Firstly, strain the dry ingredients through a strainer before mixing.
  • Step 2: Mix all dry ingredients ( Baking Soda, Citric Acid, and Epsom salt) in a bowl.
  • Step 3: Mix all wet ingredients, including oil, fragrance, and color, in another bowl.
  • Step 4: Pour the wet ingredients slowly into the dry ingredients and mix well again.
  • Step 5: Fill the mold tightly with the mixture on both sides of the mold.
  • Step 6: Press the mold firmly.When you feel that the mixture has taken the shape of the mold, gently remove the bath bomb from the mold. Leave the bath bomb for at least four hours or overnight to dry. Keep it in a cool and dry place to dry thoroughly.

It is very easy and simple for beginners. When I first made bath bombs at home, I made bath bombs in this simple recipe.

Recipe no.02: Variegated and colorful way

This process will give you a variegated and colorful experience during use.

Ingredients:

  1. Sodium bicarbonate:500 grams
  2. Corn flour:200 grams
  3. Citric acid:250 grams
  4. Epsom salts:30 grams
  5. Tartar cream:05 grams
  6. SLSA(Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate):05 grams
  7. Kaolin clay:05 grams
  8. Mica: half tablespoon
  9. Polysorbate 80:Half tablespoon
  10. Jojoba oil: Half tablespoon
  11. Vitamin E oil:02 drops
  12. Sweet almond oil:01 tablespoon
  13. Fragrance oil:01 tablespoon
  14. Witch hazel: 01 teaspoonful.

For a more comfortable bath, I used tartar cream, SLSA, Kaolin clay, Mica, Polysorbate 80, Jojoba oil, Vitamin E oil, Sweet almond oil, Fragrance oil, and Witch hazel.

Process:

  • Step 1: Must Strain the dry ingredients through a strainer before mixing. 
  • Step 2: Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. 
  • Step 3: Mix all wet ingredients, including oil, fragrance, and color, in another bowl. 
  • Step 4: Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix well again. Remember that proper mixing is very important for perfect binding. 
  • Step 5: After combining all ingredients, spray witch hazel.
  • Step 6: Fill the mold tightly with the mixture on both sides of the mold.
  • Step 7: Press the mold firmly.
  • Step 8: When you feel that the mixture has taken the shape of the mold, gently remove the bath bomb from the mold. 
  • Step 9: Leave the bath bomb for at least four hours or overnight to dry, and keep it in a cool and dry place.  

Use hand gloves while mixing.

Place the bath bomb in a sealed plastic bag. Squeeze the air out of the bag. So that it sticks to the bath bomb. Make sure it is in airtight condition.

Sealing now properly. Use a separate bag for each bath bomb.

From different types of wrappers, you can choose any one. Like, Zip lock plastic bags, plastic wrap, shrink wrap, etc.

Metal Mold: Quality aluminum or stainless steel mold will never crack or break.Easy to use.Mostly durable, easy to clean, and long-lasting.

Wooden mold: Some are interested in wood molds for bath bombs.Because it is natural. To prevent the bath bomb from sticking to the mold, make sure that the inside of the wooden mold is properly covered with freezer paper.
